Baptism

‘What am I waiting for?’

I first thought about getting baptised whilst praying with a group of guys at Church. The presence of God was so strong, 2 hours felt like 20 mins.

Probably one of the most amazing experiences of of my life to date. The following morning, my Pastor talked about baptism and waiting too long. He gave examples of  people in the New Testament who were baptised the same day they accepted Christ. I had rededicated my life to Christ 2 months prior and seemed to be stalling… What was I waiting for? Even Jesus got baptised at the beginning of His ministry…

My walk with Jesus was still quite new and I needed guidance. My Church helped me understand why it was important to get baptised and how based on examples in the bible.

Early on, I came across the story of Phillip & the Ethiopian eunuch which really resonated with me; “Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” The man replied, “How can I, unless someone instructs me?” And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him Acts 8: 30-31

As I continued reading Acts 8: 36 “As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptised?” I knew in my heart it was time to be baptised. SO I GOT BAPTISED! It was easily one of the best decisions of my life. Coming out of that pool I felt renewed, I felt fresh, energised and ready for my walk with Jesus. Nothing can beat that feeling.

I’d like to ask you the same question i asked myself, what are you waiting for?  Acts 22: 16 reminds us that every believer should take this step. “And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptised and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”

I pray that my story touches someone’s heart and that your testimony becomes a blessing to others.
