Second Chances

“Without Christ I would have been locked up, And my Career washed up.”

I was a natural athlete growing up, I excelled at football, running (4000m) and weight lifting. One of my gifts was being able to throw a punch. All it took was for someone to look at me the wrong way for a fight to break out.

After a near brush with prison and an undeserved second chance, I started to search for my purpose. As I began studying the Word of God, it became apparent that I had miss-used and abused my gifts because I didn’t know much about the giver. Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1:17

What’s more, this giver… Jesus! Gave me more than just my abilities, He died that I might have life. For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

I’ve had many fights in and out of the ring of life. One thing i know… Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. II Chronicles 20:15

Without Christ I would have been locked up, And my Career washed up. Without the Light of the Word, I would be in a dark World. The result is I wanted to go solo, be like everyone else because I did not know who Christ was, so I had no idea who I was or who to model my life after. By Erick Ochieng
