THE OLD ME, IS DEAD AND GONE

“My Father set himself on fire”

I lost my dad to suicide, left school with hardly any GCSE’s, got involved in risky situations, had many sexual relationships with girls…

I dealt drugs, smoked drugs, did class A drugs, and partied hard, but it felt like there was an emptiness in my heart, a yearning for something more.

In my childhood years, I attended church with my family, but had never given my life to Jesus.  In my teenage years, I stopped attending church and began my journey of discovery, filled with numerous experiences (good and bad).  However, many years later God called me to Himself and I became a Christian and have not looked back since.

I now have a relationship with Jesus that is strong and secure, and the way that I used to live is a distant memory.  Like T.I and Justin Timberlake said “ The old me is dead and gone, dead and gone … ”

Two of my favourite scriptures that describe who I am, and how I now live are found in 1 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come, and Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me!

My life is very different now – God has blessed me with a beautiful wife and a beautiful daughter, I am a youth pastor for my local church, I work as a mentor in a youth offender’s prison, I have a YouTube channel called Kingdom Warriors, I work with the local council in trying to reduce serious youth violence, I speak at events raising awareness on the issue of County Lines, and have generally devoted my life to helping and supporting young people.

Be encouraged, and know that God is faithful and able to fulfil all that he has planned and purposed for your life.
